American Idiot is based off a GRAMMY® Award-winning rock opera album of the same name written and performed by the punk-rock band Green Day. A member of the band, Billie Joe Armstrong and director Michael Mayer collaborated and transformed the album into a musical adaptation on the stage.
The 2010 Drama Desk nominated, and two-time Tony Award® winner show is one-act and tells the story of three spiked-hair punk –devotees who are forced to choose between their aspirations and what is expected by society as the norm.
